Padded Headboards

There are many types of headboards that are available in the market today. But if you want to create your own design, pattern and color then you got to have a customized headboard that matches perfectly with your décor.

Making a headboard can be very easy; especially padded headboards. They are comfortable and look quite luxurious and will undoubtedly be the focal point of any bedroom. They look great on king and queen size beds as the cover a larger area on the wall and gives the feel of softness and comfort.

Padded headboards are also known as upholstered headboards. They can be easily customized according to your preference. They will give you maximum comfort and support when you’re curled up in your bed or just relaxing to read your favorite book.

Ready-made padded headboards can be quite expensive; especially the ones with high quality leather and padding. But if you have a limited budget then you can make your own padded headboard by following few simple steps. You will save hundreds of dollars by making your own padded headboard.

You need to gather some materials before starting your project. It’s best to have all of them handy as it will make your life much easier. So gather some plywood, fabric, upholstered foam, batting, spray glue, staple gun, drill, router and all the other basic equipments from your tool kit and sewing kit. If you want something fancy then get some accessories for decoration.

The size of the plywood will depend on the size of your bed (ie the width) and the length is again your preference. However, tall padded headboards look great in large rooms, while a smaller one for constricted space.

The fabric should be big enough to cover the plywood as well as the foam and wrap around the back to be secured. The color of the fabric should match your interiors and the material can be of your choice such as leather or velvet. The accessories depend on how fancy you want your headboard to be. You can have buttons or snaps to jazz up your padded headboards.

If you don’t want to drill holes to your wall, you can secure the padded headboards to the frame or legs or your bed. The shape of the headboard is entirely up to you. You can choose to cut the plywood in a simple square or can curve the edges and corners or can have a peaked headboard.
